Over the past couple of weeks, we temporarily paused automatic subscription payments. The reason was simple: the old system caused unnecessary confusion and could lead to unwanted outcomes, especially when a payment failed.
Previously, saved Credit Cards were charged on the due date itself. If the payment did not complete (for example due to a payment error), the subscription could immediately enter the grace period, including a reactivation fee, even though the customer still had the option to renew in advance. In addition, customers could still receive multiple reminder e-mails even after a successful payment, which didn’t feel clean or professional.
Because of this, we decided to temporarily disable automatic charges while we developed a better solution.
Introducing AUTOPAY: a safer and more customer-friendly system
Starting January 22, 2026, we are introducing AUTOPAY for subscriptions that use Credit Card payments.
AUTOPAY is built using ProRedLine-developed software, integrated with WooPayments, allowing us to improve how subscription renewals are handled in a prepaid environment.
This new approach is designed to be:
- more predictable
- less disruptive
- more transparent
- and easier to control for customers
How AUTOPAY works
ProRedLine subscriptions are prepaid, meaning you pay before the next billing cycle starts.
- Renewal order is created 7 days before the due date
A renewal order is generated 7 days before the due date. This renewal order is the payment that extends your subscription into the next billing cycle. - Reminder e-mail is sent (7 days before due date)
You will receive a reminder e-mail notifying you that your subscription is about to renew and that payment is coming up. - AUTOPAY attempts to charge your saved Credit Card (after 60 minutes)
If your subscription uses a saved Credit Card, AUTOPAY will attempt to automatically charge the renewal order 60 minutes after the renewal order is created.
Important: AUTOPAY only attempts the charge once. We do not retry automatically, to avoid duplicate payment attempts or spam. - If AUTOPAY fails, you can pay manually (no immediate penalty)
If the automatic charge does not complete, you will receive a notification e-mail and you can simply pay manually using the renewal payment link. This prevents the situation where customers would instantly enter the grace period due to a payment issue on the due date itself.
Why we made this change
This new flow gives customers important advantages:
- More control
This new flow gives customers important advantages:- remove your saved Credit Card
- update your payment method
- contact support if something doesn’t look right
- Less risk
Payments are no longer attempted at the last possible moment (on the due date). This reduces the chance of unexpected service interruption due to last-minute payment issues. - Less confusion and fewer unnecessary reminders
If AUTOPAY succeeds, your renewal is completed early and the subscription continues without last-minute payment stress.
Don’t want AUTOPAY? No problem.
If you don’t want automatic charges, you can disable it at any time by removing your saved Credit Card:
my.proredline.com ⇒ Store & Other Settings ⇒ Saved Payment Methods
Once removed, AUTOPAY will no longer be able to charge your card. Keep in mind: If AUTOPAY is disabled or unavailable, manual payment is still required before the due date to continue services.
Reminder schedule
If manual payment is required, you will receive reminder e-mails:
- 7 days before the due date (AUTOPAY and Manual Payments)
- Optional: AUTOPAY Failed same day
- 3 days before the due date
- 1 day before the due date
This ensures you have more than enough time to renew without surprises.
